Now more than ever children need nutritional food supplements even more as we buy and eat more and more over processed foods. Organic food is one alternative but most children and adults prefer the taste of processed food. It is best for children to get the nutrition they need from the foods they eat, but with the over processed foods we have today it has become nearly impossible.Years ago most every family had their own garden, growing and canning their own vegetables, storing away enough food to last through the winter. Chickens, hogs, and maybe a cow or two was slaughtered to meet the nutritional needs of the family. A few families still do this and more are joining in every day due to the high price of food and also the added nutrition they receive from home grown food. Most families however still depend on the local grocery store for their supply of food. Many depend on fast food for many of their meals as there is not much time between working and getting the children off to school to prepare a home cooked meal. Those are just a few of the reasons why children need nutritional food supplements. Omega 3, vitamin c, and vitamin d, are three great nutritional food supplements that will help your children grow and develop to their fullest potential.
Omega-3 is found in fish oil, mackerel, sardines and salmon. It is also found in tuna but only fresh tuna, not the kind you buy in a can. It is common for a child to be deficient in this area. The omega 3 is necessary for normal brain and nervous system function which is essential if they are to do well in school. Consider giving your children this vital nutritional food supplement if they have trouble paying attention or studying in school. Omega-3 is easy to find, and can be easily incorporated into their daily diet in a liquid form or pills.
Vitamin C is also necessary in their diet. It promotes proper brain function, helps the immune system and protects them from dangerous free radicals. It is found in fruits and vegetables. Studies have shown that nutritional food supplements containing vitamin C helps protect children from absorbing heavy metals.
Vitamin D is present in sunlight and vitamin D fortified milk. It is also found in tuna, salmon and mackerel. It is important for health and may help prevent serious chronic diseases. Recent studies indicate that it may protect against heart disease, cancer and immune system disorders. Since it is not prevalent in many foods children should get it in the form of nutritional food supplements, especially if they do not like the fortified milk. While there are many great supplements on the market, these are the main three supplements you should be giving your children. When should children start taking nutritional food supplements? Most will agree to start giving supplements when your child hits the picky eating stage or between the age of one and two years old. School age children especially need them so they can learn better and get through the long day in school.
